First “EuroWeb Book Corner” with Ieva Pigozne

In a new series of events aiming at show casing recent books published or edited by EuroWeb members and other recent publications on Textiles and Textile Heritage, Ieva Pigozne, from the Institute of Latvian History of the University of Latvia, presented her brand-new book, a result of her PhD research on the meaning of colours in historical dress in the Baltic region.

Participants had the opportunity to hear Ieva talk about her research methods and her extensive sources, which range from Folklore and Literature to Archaeology, and to learn more about the changing meanings of different colours and the corresponding changes in their uses in historical textiles and clothing. This truly groundbreaking research on a field with enormous potential raised the curiosity of the many participants in this “Book Corner” and resulted in a very engaging and informative Q&A session.

Those who were unable to attend this event but wish to hear more about Ieva’s book can find the recording of the session on EuroWeb’s Youtube Channel, and can find more information on it through the National History Museum of Latvia’s online bookstore.
