EuroWeb Book Corner – Textiles from Archaeological Research at Prague Castle

In the ninth edition (22/11, 15h CET) of the “EuroWeb Book Corner” we are pleased to welcome Milena Bravermanová, Helena Březinová & Jana Bureš Víchová (CZ) who will be presenting their recent volume “Textiles from Archaeological Research at Prague Castle”, published by Academia Knihkupectví (2023).

Synopsis from the publisher:

«The subject of the publication is a detailed study of medieval and Early Modern period archaeological textiles preserved from various archaeological contexts at Prague Castle and which represent a unique assemblage of luxurious artefacts documenting the high level of period textile production. The textiles were retrieved mostly during the 20th century. The fabrics come from several sites – the Church of the Virgin Mary, St George’s Basilica, St Vitus Cathedral, All Saints Church and a nearby well, and the finds are dated to the broad period from the 10th to the 18th century.
The Czech-English book is intended for professionals and institutions dealing with historical textiles, as well as the general public, for whom it will serve as a guide to the most important collection of archaeological textiles in the Czech Republic, connected to actual historical figures – rulers, their family members and Church dignitaries.»
