EuroWeb showcased on the CTR Anniversary Conference
Between the 14th and the 18th of June 2021 the Centre for Textile Research of the University of Copenhagen celebrated its 20th Anniversary with the Conference “Old Textiles, More Possibilities”, a major international meeting which brought together many of Europe’s leading experts on textile research.
Presentations to this hallmark conference, which established a state-of-the-art of textile research in Europe and beyond, were divided into nine thematic sessions, covering subjects such as the progress of textile research, textiles, raw materials and novel scientific methods, the landscapes of textile production, funerary textiles, the reuse, repair and redesign of textiles and clothing, the ways to bridge different sources for textile history, ancient dress, and sensory studies in textile research.
The final panel of this Conference, with the title “Looking forward: EuroWeb and the future of textile research”, was entirely dedicated to the Action, and included short presentations by various team members on EuroWeb’s goals, team, and activities. The presentation shown on that occasion can be consulted here. The Action’s presentation was very well received by the participants to the Conference, which acknowledged its great potential and the necessity for an initiative which brings together European textile scholars, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas, skills and resources.
